Project Test for Methanol Emission
The installation of a methanol-powered engine on a ship will be part of a project to assess the potential of methanol as a marine fuel in Asia at the Port of Singapore. The engine used in the GreenPilot evaluation programme in Gothenburg, Sweden, is being bench and desktop tested in the project's initial phase. The engine will be transported to Singapore for the second phase, where it will be installed on a harbour craft vessel, likely a pilot boat and used for a six-month sea trial before being disassembled to test clearances and material compatibility.
